PSNH Presents: Erine Leigh
Discusses Edna St. Vincent Millay and Jane Kenyon

Join PSNH Tonight Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 7pm for a presentation by Erine Leigh on two key New England poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Jane Kenyon.

This discussion will highlight and contrast the lives of these two very different poetesses, featuring two poems from each writer. We can thereby agree to celebrate the efforts of female writers in New England, through this brief sketch.

Erine Leigh was raised in a family of poets. Her grandfather was head of the English Literature Dept. at Philips Exeter when Donald Hall attended as a student. Erine had a few years correspondence with Don Hall before his passing. She and her siblings were encouraged to write and participate in creative arts as children, for the entertainment of their elders.

Erine by-passed most opportunities for formal education, yet has been a consummate reader of the classics and the arcane throughout her life. She served as poet laureate of Portsmouth NH from 2015-2017, visiting schools and designing empowering on-stage opportunities for young poets to perform their work. Her project was called Poems for Peace.

She is honored to conduct this zoom presentation and welcomes participation from listeners. To participate: for members, the Zoom link will be provided in an email communication prior to the event; for all others, please click the Register button and you will receive an email with the zoom link immediately following registration.
