Where we began
The Poetry Society of New Hampshire (PSNH) is an all-volunteer organization that was incorporated in the early 1960s and granted non-profit status soon after. Its primary locus of activity at that time was Manchester, NH, where many of the founding members lived; since then, readings and meetings have been conducted in various regions across the state.
Poetry Events
PSNH celebrates and shares poetry through open mics, workshops, contests and collaborations with other artists. To achieve this, we sponsor and support events all over New Hampshire, including at libraries, art galleries, parks, theaters, and on the radio. Every month, PSNH has at least one in-person event and one virtual event.
Additionally, PSNH prides itself as the hub of information about what’s happening with poetry in NH and our surrounding communities. Each month, we fill up our events calendar so anyone can find a poetry event to attend.
NH State Poet Laureate
PSNH is proud to be a key contributor to the NH State Poet Laureate program, where we recommend a poet to the Governor following a rigorous application and selection process, and support critical activities related to the position.
