Exeter LitFest 2024

There will be lots of fun events on the weekend of April 5 & 6.  Visit ExeterLitFest.com for complete details and walking tour info. A sneak preview:

Friday, April 5 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Kick-Off Party: The Exeter Public Library, a long-time LitFest partner, will host an after-hours event. Groove to a live jazz concert performance by Portsmouth’s own Sharon Jones and enjoy a Mocktail by Shelby with snacks from local eateries. Visit themed party rooms by genre but… beware the undead pet sematary! Come alone, or bring your whole book group. This is a free event.


Saturday April 6 at 10:00 am:

True Crime & Mystery Writers Brunch  

Saturday April 6 from 1 to 5 pm:

Afternoon of authors in the Exeter Town Hall, both on the main floor and the upper level. Free & open to the public. The time slots will be posted on the LitFest website. This is a free event.

  • Keynote speaker – Andre Debus III moderated by PEA’s Matthew Miller
  • Featured author – Illyon Woo in discussion
  • Three local poets in discussion – Michael Brosnan, Kristen Lindquist, & Chelsea Woodard
  • Student poets from Exeter High School, introduced by Jack Herney
  • “How to write a children’s book” panel discussion- Wickie Rowland & Marie Miller moderated by Peg Aaronian
  • Children’s non-fiction books with Matt Tavares and Suzanne Slade (held at the Exeter Public Library)
  • New England-inspired fiction panel featuring Katherine Howe, Caitlin Shetterly, and Adam White moderated by Amy Grace Lloyd
  •  “Events of the Day” non-fiction panel featuring Sara Petersen and Matt Hongoltz-Hetling moderated by the Boston Globe’s Amanda Gokee

Remember  to visit the annual book-swap table on the front steps of the town hall, in memory of Mary Lemist Titcomb, inventor of the Bookmobile and RFSeminary alum!

Look for the upcoming “Storefront Poetry” poetry crawl in the downtown merchants’ windows. Thanks to the Exeter area Chamber of Commerce for their assistance.

LitFest 2024 is dedicated to the late David Weber, founding board member. A true gentleman and a scholar, and very much missed by many.
