Please join us on Tuesday May 3rd, at 7:00 PM ET for a reading and discussion with Robert Carr : Over the course of a lifetime we all experience large-scale events that change us: devastation through war, the loss of a home or a town in a wildfire, a pandemic. For many poets, these global events assume a central position in the content of their work; themes that directly or indirectly are returned to again and again. In this reading and discussion, we will use the example of the global HIV pandemic and its impact on gay men to explore how poetry can identify and capture universal themes behind historical events.
